Appointments to Council

Following the City Charter, Sections 601(f) and Section 602(d), vacancies on the City Council are filled by appointment. Appointments to fill a councilmember vacancy must reside in and be a qualified elector of the district in which the vacancy occurs.  

In the case of the Mayor, any vacancy is filled from the electors of the City.
