Discover all the activities, events, and classes offered in most of our Community Centers for our senior community to stay active and healthy.


Yearly Senior Memberships – Only $25

Become a part of our vibrant senior community by purchasing a yearly (July 1 to June 30) Senior Membership for only $25. The membership fee covers almost all senior activities that take place during each center's senior program. Program activities vary by location. Some activities, such as Luncheon and Bingo, Tea Dance, and instructional classes (Tai Chi, Partner Social Dance, Senior Tap Dance) are available at an additional fee. 

Memberships can be purchased at any City Community Center. Senior programming takes place at Arnold Rue Community Center, Oak Park Senior Center, Stribley Community Center, and Van Buskirk Community Center.

 Each center has the following types of programming:

  • Fitness room with exercise equipment
  • Card and board games (pinochle, bridge, mahjong, etc.)
  • Exercise activities (aerobics, dance, etc.)
  • Arts and craft activities (painting, knitting, crochet, etc.)

Free Haircuts for Seniors (Must be a member)

Senior Luncheon & Bingo

  • 3rd Friday of the month
  • 12 p.m.- 2 p.m.
  • $8.00 ticket must be purchased the week prior to luncheon.

Farmer's Market for Ages 50+ Free Bag of Produce

  • Oak Park Senior Center, 730 E. Fulton St.
    • First Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., while supplies last.
  • Stribley Community Center, 1760 E. Sonora St.
    • Third Friday, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., while supplies last.
  • Arnold Rue Center, 5758 Lorraine Ave.
    • Fourth Thursday, 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 a.m., while supplies last.

 Brown Bag Program for Ages 50+ Free Bag of Food

  • Van Buskirk Community Center, 734 Houston Ave.
    • First and third Wednesdays, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Arnold Rue Community Center, 5758 Lorraine Ave.
    • First and third Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Stribley Community Center, 1760 E. Sonora St.
    • Second and fourth Fridays, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Oak Park Senior Center, 730 E. Fulton St 
    • Second and fourth Thursdays, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Ages 60+ receive one free bag of food per person, while supplies last. Must be registered for this program.

Membership Movie Fridays

  • Oak Park Center, 730 E. Fulton St.
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.; 2nd and 4th Friday of each month
