Miner Avenue Complete Streets 

Miner Ave ImprovementsThe City of Stockton Public Works Department has completed the Miner Avenue Complete Street Improvements between Center Street and Aurora Street, near the Cabral Station. The project includes the following: 

  • reduction in the number of vehicle travel lanes from two lanes to one lane in each direction with buffered bicycle lanes;
  • landscaped medians;
  • signal and lighting improvements;
  • a round-about at the intersection of Miner Avenue and San Joaquin Street;
  • pedestrian and bicycle amenities;
  • accessible street crossings with bulb-out, round corners; and
  • relocation and upgrade of a portion of the existing sanitary sewer line.

 

Award Winning Project

The City of Stockton Miner Avenue Complete Streets project has been selected as the 2022 Outstanding Road and Highway Project, by the American Society of Civil Engineers Sacramento Section.  

 

“We’re extremely proud of our Public Works team and their partners,” said City Manager Harry Black. “This award-winning project took vision and perseverance, resulting in significant enhancements that provide an opportunity for activating downtown and new business opportunities along an important corridor.”

 

The project will be recognized at the 2022 Sacramento Section Project Awards Banquet on November 4, 2023. 

 

Miner Ave OpeningProject Timeline

Project construction began September 14, 2020, and is now completed. An Opening Ceremony was held as a celebration and dedication at the intersection of Miner Ave. and San Joaquin St., at the round-about, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. 

 

Funding

Funding for the design and construction is from federal, state, and local funding sources:

  • Active Transportation Program (ATP)
  • Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program
  • Measure K Renewal Smart Growth Incentive Program
  • Local Street Resurfacing Operational Funds
  • Local Wastewater Operational Funds
  • Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program Grant Funds
  • Other Local Matching Funds
