Rates & Discounts
Rates for Solid Waste & Recycling Collection
Current garbage rates have been approved by the Stockton City Council. The City's two franchised waste haulers, Allied Waste and Waste Management, are authorized to charge these rates for all residential and commercial customers.
Annual Rate Increases and Adjustments
The City's contract with the waste haulers requires an automatic annual rate adjustment on June 1. The adjustment equals 50% of the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous one year period. For 2014, the CPI increase was calculated to be 0.78% of the current rates; thus, all current rates for waste services will be increased by 0.78% starting June 1, 2014. Thirty days prior to the increase, Stockton residents and businesses can expect written notice of this rate adjustment via utility bill mail insert or a bill imprint.
Billing for Solid Waste Collection Services
Residential customers are billed monthly for garbage and recycling services. The monthly charge is based on the size of your garbage bin. With this Rate Schedule you can view all Stockton rates for each size and service. A 60-gallon cart for recycling and a 90-gallon cart for green/food waste combined are provided at no additional charge.
Residential customers with questions about their bills should contact the appropriate billing department – California Water Services at (209) 547-7900 or City of Stockton at (209) 937-8295. If you are unsure who provides your billing service, use the City's About Your Address feature to determine which company handles your service.
Commercial businesses are billed directly through their service providers. All billing questions should be directed to the appropriate service provider.
