Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) leave entitlements allow employees to balance work and family life by taking reasonable leave for specific purposes.
The City provides Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits to non-safety employees through Reliance Standard.
The City participates in the State Disability Insurance (SDI) program for the following bargaining units:
SDI is administered through the Employment Development Department (EDD). It is a partial-wage replacement insurance plan for California workers mandated by the state and funded through employee payroll deductions.

Employees who are members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible for military leaves of absence. These documents outline the policy and instructions on requesting leave.
City policy allows employees to donate time to other employees who have a catastrophic need. Those requesting catastrophic leave must meet eligibility criteria and complete page 4 of the Catastrophic Annual Leave Donation Program policy. Employees who choose to donate time must complete page 5.
