Stockton Fire Chief Richard J. Edwards 

EdwardsRichard J. Edwards was selected as the 18th City of Stockton Fire Chief in December 2019. Chief Edwards began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter in 1995 with the Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Protection District.  He became a professional firefighter with the Georgetown Fire District in 1998 and later worked for the City of Folsom as a Firefighter Paramedic before coming to the City of Stockton in the year 2000.

 

Edwards holds an Associate's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management.  He is currently enrolled in a Master's program, studying Organizational Leadership and Public Administration.  Chief Edwards also holds certification as a Chief Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, Paramedic, and Emergency Management Specialist.

 

Chief Edwards oversees the Stockton Fire Departments' $57 million budget and 218 employees from Operations, Administration, Fire Prevention, Emergency Communications, and Training.
