Street Closures

Plan a successful event by giving adequate notice to neighbors and impacted businesses by filing the necessary paperwork with the City of Stockton Community Services Department.

Street Closure

This is a gathering of people which causes a closure of the entire street, or a portion, to vehicle traffic and use of the street for the event. Street closures are used for:

  • Parades
  • Demonstrations / March
  • Run / Walk, and
  • Festivals (impacting streets.)

Additionally, your block party or street closure may require police services and/or specific barricades, such as K-rail. This will be determined at the pre-event meeting scheduled after the submission of your special event application, deposit, petition, and Traffic Control Plan (TCP) if necessary.

Block Parties and Street Closure Process

Please submit the following:

  1. Completed application and any required attachments 45 calendar days prior to the event to City of Stockton Community Services Department - Special Events Office.
  2. Refundable street cleaning deposit of $500.
  3. Petition form for notification including area businesses, homeowners and/or tenants affected by street closure requested.
  4. TCP for open-air markets, festivals, and special events that occupy roadways impacting the normal flow of traffic for an extended period of time. TCP must follow guidelines in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
