The Story of Silver Lake

Since 1921, Stockton's Silver Lake Family Camp has hosted a family camp in the El Dorado National Forest along Silver Lake.  This camp lets families escape the heat and noise of urban life and enjoy fresh air in a peaceful setting.

This historic Camp is located a half mile from Silver Lake in Amador County, nestled at the foot of Thunder Mountain in the majestic Sierras.  Less than an hour from Stockton, Silver Lake is 100 miles from Stockton on Highway 88 at an elevation of 7,300 feet.

The Camp is on land permitted to the City of Stockton by the United States Forest Service. Silver Lake Camper's Association is a non-profit agency dedicated to supporting the Silver Lake Family Camp for over 50 years. This Agency has operated the Camp on behalf of the City since 2009.
