The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled cities, urban counties and states to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Owner-Occupied One-Time Emergency Repair Loans, Neighborhood Improvement Loans, Multi-Unit Housing Loans, Facade Improvement Loans, Housing Rehabilitation Loans
HOME Investment Partnership Grant
Program Administration, Home Purchase Downpayment Assistance, Rehabilitation or New Construction Financing Assistance, Site acquisition or improvement for construction of low-moderate income housing.
Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG)
Rehabilitation or conversion of buildings for use as emergency shelters for the homeless, payment of eligible operating and social service expenses in connection with emergency shelter for the homeless and for homeless prevention activities.

Recent Accomplishments

Completed rehabilitation of the 90-unit Kentfield Apartment complex in August 2009.

Completed construction of a 65-unit Wysteria Apartment complex in August 2009.

Completed rehabilitation of the 46-unit Villa Monterey Apartment comples in May 2009 .

Completed construction of a 21-unit Marquis Place Apartment complex in June 2008.

Completed construction of a 70-unit Villa Montecito Apartment complex for low-income persons.

Completed a combined total of 18 Down Payment Assistance and Housing Assistance (rehabilitation, reconstruction, emergency repair) projects.

2009/2010 Goals

Begin construction of the 95-unit Mercy Apartment complex in the Gleason Park neighborhood by February 2010.

Begin construction of the 16-unit single-family Vintage Plaza townhome project in the Gleason Park neighborhood by early 2010.

Complete 10 Housing Rehabilitation and Down Payment Assistance projects and 10 Emergency Repair, Neighborhood Improvement, and Senior Grant projects by June 2010.
